No. 67 Minnesota Collects 6-1 Triumph Over Drake |
DES MOINES, IOWA - Spoiling the home debut of the Drake women's tennis team was 67th-rated Minnesota as the Golden Gophers earned a 6-1 victory over the Bulldogs on Saturday (March 3) at the Drake Tennis Center.
The duo of senior Eve Rusdianto (Surabaya, Indonesia) and junior Irina Kalashnikova (Sochi, Russia) recorded an 8-4 victory at No. 2 doubles against Lindsay Risebrough and Mikayla Rogers, but the Golden Gophers collected the doubles point with wins at the other two positions.
Sophomore Veronika Leszayova (Povazska Bystrica, Slovak Republic) improved to 7-4 on the dual campaign as she notched a three-set triumph (6-4, 6-7 (5), 10-6) over Ashley Schellhas at No. 1 singles for the Bulldogs' lone point in the match.
Drake continues its homestand as the Blue and White play host to Gustavus Adolphus on March 10 at 2:00 p.m.
