Adrien Debreyne won both the singles and doubles title Friday at the 2006 Aquatennial Plaza Tennis Invitational at One Financial Plaza in downtown Minneapolis. Debreyne, who just completed his eligibility at the University of Minnesota, claimed the singles title with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Tony Larson of Alexandria, Minn. Debreyne, of France, earned $500 for the victory. Debreyne then partnered with former Gopher teammate Andres Osorio in taking the doubles title with a 6-1, 7-5 win over Kevin Whipple of Saint Cloud and John Schollmeier of Blue Earth, Minn. In the mixed doubles final, Robin Coverdale of White Bear Lake, Minn., and John Trondson of St. Paul beat Whipple and Sierra Krebsbach of North Oaks, Minn., in a three-set thriller 7-6, 6-7, 1-0 (11-9 third set tiebreaker). |
