Top seeded Tony Larson will face unseeded Adrien Debreyne Friday at 12 noon in the finals of the 2006 Aquatennial Plaza Tennis Tournament at One Financial Plaza in downtown Minneapolis. Larson defeated 2005 runner up Reven Stephens in Thursday’s semifinals, while Debreyne beat second seeded Kevin Whipple in the other semifinal. Debreyne will also play in the men’s doubles final at 10:00 a.m. with partner Andres Osorio against Whipple and John Schollmeier. Debreyne and Osorio defeated Erik Donley and Justen Seim in the first semifinal while Whipple and Schollmeier beat two-time defending champions Alexei Zharinov and Nate McLain in a third-set tiebreaker. The mixed doubles final features John Trondson and Robin Coverdale against Erik and Meagan Donley at 1:30 p.m. Admission is free. |
